In-House Lab Design and Build
Build a cannabis tissue culture lab your team actually runs.
We design and build in-house tissue culture labs for commercial cultivators, then train your team to run them. Six months from kickoff, your people are producing clean Gen-0 stock without us in the room.
What we build
Not a room with a hood in it. A clean-room built for clean stock.
A commercial tissue culture lab is designed around one-directional flow, from media prep to sterile transfer to controlled growth, so contamination has nowhere to hide. We scope the space, design the layout, source the equipment, formulate media for your cultivars, write the SOPs, and commission the lab with your team working in it.
Who this is for
If you are still buying your clones, someone else controls your genetics.
- Cultivators buying clones from a vendor and inheriting whatever comes with them: inconsistent vigor, surprise HLVd (also written HpLVd), a cultivar library they do not actually own.
- MSOs standardizing genetics across sites, who need every location starting from the same clean stock.
- Operators whose mother room has quietly become a liability: expensive square footage, disease pressure, and a single point of failure for cultivars they cannot afford to lose.
- Teams that tried tissue culture and stalled, because nobody trained them to run it as a production system.
The build, start to finish
Six months, four moves.
- Months 1 to 2, design. We scope your space, design the clean-room around one-directional flow, and spec equipment and consumables to your cultivars and your volume.
- Months 2 to 3, build and equip. We oversee construction with your contractors, install and validate the lab, and formulate media for your specific genetics.
- Months 3 to 5, train the team. Your technicians learn every stage hands-on in your own lab: media prep, sterile transfer, meristem isolation, multiplication, rooting, and hardening.
- Month 6, commission and hand off. Your team runs a full production cycle with us in the room, then without us. You walk away owning the lab, the SOPs, and the genetics, plus the Collective Herb lab platform set up for your team.
You own it
We build it. You own it.
The relationship is built to end with you self-sufficient. By month six your team runs the lab, owns the genetics, and does not depend on us to keep it going. That is the whole point. District Cannabis went from design in December 2025 to a live lab by the end of March 2026, and we have preserved 250+ cultivars coast to coast.
Lab build questions
Building an in-house lab, answered.
Do you build the lab, or do we?
We design and guide the build, and your team ends up running it. We handle facility assessment, clean-room design, equipment sourcing, SOPs, media formulation, and commissioning, and we oversee construction with your contractors so it is built right the first time. By the end your team operates the lab independently.
How long does a lab build take?
About six months, from facility assessment to your team producing its own Gen-0 clones. District Cannabis went from design in December 2025 to a live lab by the end of March 2026.
What happens after you leave?
You own and run the lab. The model is autonomy, not dependency. Optional ongoing support is available as a monthly retainer if you want us in the loop, but it is optional, and your team is trained to run the lab without us.
