Cold Storage and Genetic Preservation

Never lose a cultivar again.

Your genetics are the business. A contamination event, a power outage, or a technician walking out should never cost you a cultivar. Cold storage preserves clean Gen-0 stock so your whole library is backed up, on your own site, under your control.

Why a mother room is not a backup

A mother room is the risk, not the insurance.

  • Mother rooms carry pathogens and genetic drift, the very things you are trying to escape.
  • One HLVd outbreak or crop failure can wipe out elite genetics you cannot get back.
  • Cold storage holds clean Gen-0 lines in slow growth, safe from whatever happens in the room.

Who this is for

If losing a cultivar would hurt, back it up.

  • Operators whose best cultivars exist in exactly one place: the mother room.
  • Breeders and MSOs sitting on a library they cannot afford to lose to an outage, an outbreak, or a bad season.
  • Cultivators who have already lost a cultivar and do not want it to happen twice.
  • Anyone carrying the cost and disease risk of a large mother room just to hold genetics they could bank clean instead.

How it works

Clean lines in, recoverable library out.

Clean Gen-0 in storage

We bank tissue-cultured, pathogen-tested lines, not field cuttings that carry the problem with them.

Slow-growth cold storage

Cultures hold for long stretches with minimal maintenance, far past the life of a mother plant.

Recovery and reactivation

A documented path to bring any cultivar back into production when you need it.

Backup cadence

A schedule that keeps the library current, so your genetics are always recoverable.

What you get

Your whole library, preserved and under your control.

A disaster-recovery plan for your genetics, on your own site, that you own. It is what we have already done for operators: 250+ cultivars preserved coast to coast.

Preservation questions

Cold storage, answered.

How long can genetics stay in cold storage?

Clean cultures held in slow-growth cold storage last for long stretches with minimal maintenance, far longer than a mother plant, and we set a backup cadence so the library stays current and recoverable.

Is this the same as cryopreservation?

No. Cold storage holds living cultures in slow growth, ready to reactivate, which fits most commercial operations. Cryopreservation is deeper and more specialized; we will tell you if your library actually needs it.

Can you back up genetics that are already in my mother room?

Yes, once they are clean. We initiate your cultivars into tissue culture, verify them clean of HLVd and other pathogens by qPCR, and bank the clean Gen-0 lines, so you are preserving healthy genetics, not the problems that live in a mother room.
